Horse Characteristics
The Gait
Paso Fino horses don’t trot; instead, they’re born with a smooth, natural four-beat lateral gait. Because each foot strikes the ground independently, there is no bounce, allowing the rider to remain virtually motionless in the saddle.
Brio
One of their standout traits is their brio—an intense yet controlled energy paired with a genuine eagerness to please and a gentle nature.
Build
They are compact and powerful for their size, typically standing 13 to 15.2 hands tall, have a refined head, straight profile, strong arched neck, and a well-proportioned body with a flowing long mane and tale.
Versatility
Known for their show ring presence, they also excel at trail riding, endurance events, and cattle work, thanks to their sharp “cow sense.”
